During the holiday months, visitors get to view Rock City Gardens of Georgia in a whole new
light, when the mountain top attraction is draped in a shimmering blanket of over 500,000 Christmas bulbs.
The "Enchanted Garden of Lights" cuts Rock City's "Enchanted Trail" to half its normal length as elves, animals, and mushrooms sculpted out of holiday bulbs, dance along stone shelves.
At the midway point, a nativity blinks in synch with holiday hymns and the story of Christmas is presented every fifteen minutes. Santa waits nearby for photo opportunities.
On the final leg of the walk, people are rerouted from the attraction's normal path, probably so nobody falls off the side of the mountain in the dark, through a garden of even more and even bigger twinkling lawn sculptures (see "Candy Land" top).
The path ends, as it normally would, at "Fairyland Caverns." Rows of soldier nutcrackers stand guard outside the entrance to the cave. Inside, a florescent cast of nursery rhyme characters sport Santa caps as the hollowed chambers are piped with holiday tunes. Joy, oh joy!
