Hotel Holds Golden Glow
In order to fully appreciate the Golden Host, one must pause to observe all the small details that comprise its aesthetic. This is definitely not your typical, sterile, cookie cutter chain establishment, which is the case with so many other corporate hotels that have infested the American roadside. Peach colored catwalks on the second story connect a series of three buildings that house 80 rooms. On the backside of the top floor guests will discover a sun-tanning patio to soak in the Florida rays. The central building contains rooms that overlook a 50-foot heated pool. Just beyond it is a shuffleboard area and nestled near the main lobby is a quiet breakfast nook, almost camouflaged by the lush surrounding foliage.
Landscaping is one of the hotels more impressive amenities. The grounds are comprised of almost five acres of palm, hibiscus and other native tropical plants. One glance at the yards and the meticulous effort that goes into their upkeep is apparent. On the several occasions Back on Tack has popped in, the staff has always been abundantly friendly. The rooms, although leaving a bit to be desired, were immaculately clean. Each has its own hint of retro flavor left over from the heyday of the Tamiami Trail, right down to individual doormats for when torrential Florida downpours hit.
Attraction around the resort include; Sarasota Jungle Gardens, The Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota Classic Car Museum, and Smuggler's Cove Miniature Golf. Although, the main attraction still seems to be its Bahi Hut.
