Picket And Stick It
Years from now, when the next ice age has come and gone and a new civilization is beginning to uncover what is left from ours, you have to wonder, what will they make of the things they unearth? The Dillon Fence in South Carolina is a prime example of the perplexing archeology that future historians will have to wrangle with.
Combining fence and folk art, the Dillon Fence is covered in a vast array of junkyard pickings. Discarded items adorn its wooden sides. Wheels, hubcaps, children's toys and other indiscernible items line the exterior. Behind it, a shed appears to be busting at the seams with future found art exhibits.
Over time many of the metal items have fallen victim to rust while others have had a way of vanishing in the middle of the night. In an episode of art imitating art a band took the name Dillon Fence in honor of the eclectic enclosure.
